By Sherman Alexie

A poetic story of growth, death and the choices that define us.
Aristotle and Seymour, co-valedictorians, left the rez for the white
world, college in Seattle, in an identical state of excitement. Their
success in Seattle would ultimately differ dramatically and eventually
would set them against one another.

SUNDAY, September 29th (donation)
A mini-film and video festival
At the American Indian Center, 1630 West Wilson Avenue, Tribal Hall
Tentative Program 2:00 - 5:30 pm

Honey Moccasin - Shelley Niro, 1998 - 47 Minutes

A comedy about a character named Honey Moccasin, a detective in search of a stolen powwow regalia.

Nanibaa - David Grotell, produced by the Rock Point Community School, 1999 - 18 Minutes

This collaborative effort with Rock Point School (a bi-lingual Navajo High School) tells the story of a girl caught between stifling traditions and a scary world outside the Rez.

Hozho of Native Women - Beverly Singer, 1998 - 29 Minutes

Four women, in grassroots programs concerned with healing, tell their stories.

Today is a Good Day - Remembering Chief Dan George - Loretta Todd, 1998 - 46 Minutes

Today is a Good Day is Loretta Todd’s memoir of the legendary chief, most remembered for his performance as Old Lodgeskins in Little Big Man. His performance in Arthur Penn’s classic gained him an Oscar nomination and brought a newer, more accurate dimension to Native characterization. Todd’s intimate engagement with his family, early life and personal mandate to dignify the American Indian on film is deeply touching.
