The 13^th annual "T-shirt Art Harvest Festival" will feature art supporting diversity. UNC, Urban Natives of Chicago, will sponsor a Pow-Wow on the opening night. This Multi-Cultural event will combine community art with a Native ceremonial tradition.

The "Festival" features art on t-shirts from more than a decade of the "Art of the T-shirt" exhibits showcasing artists from around Chicago.

ART-ACT is also featured. It is the Anti Racist T-shirt Art Contest Tour - a global, on-line, two-year-long, art contest and on-going, theme exhibit of the Uptown Multi-Cultural Art Center's website. ART-ACT attracts artists' work internationally which is displayed alongside Chicago artists' artwork over the Internet. This second ART-ACT with a deadline of August 1^st, 2002 has already collected art for over a year.

The T-shirt Art Harvest Festival opens from 6 -10:00pm on Friday, September 28^th with a potluck dinner followed by the Pow-Wow. It is, also, a closing event of the Guild Complex’s Labor and Arts Month activities.

On Saturday (9/29) the exhibit opens at noon. Labor and Arts Month invites the public from 3-5pm to a round table discussion about Global Art-Global Alternatives, or how does art confront a world with diminishing borders and escalating conflicts.

Two films exploring issues of race from different perspectives will show from 5-7pm and 7-9 PM with discussions afterward. Showing first film, The Buffalo War by Matthew Testa will examine Native issues while POETIC LICENSE by David Yanofsky will follow presenting youthful opinions on race in urban America.
