"Chicago Artists Go Global"

"Act Locally - Think Globally" is the title of an interactive exhibit at Ennui Gallery and Café at 6981 Sheridan Ave open June 2 through July 15th. A reception for the exhibit at Café Ennui will be held on Friday, June 23th from 5:00-7:00 pm. This exhibit features Chicago artists' work pared with global contributions thanks to an on-line art contest, ART-ACT, produced by the Uptown Multi-Cultural Art Center (UM-CAC).

Artist, C. Drew will show his serigraph art on T-shirts. He has organized the annual "Art of the T-shirt" exhibits for 12 years. Included will be some of the work of artists he has taught to print in the UM-CAC's "Screen Print Work-shop for Artists." Mr. Drew has taught this free workshop for artists at the Chicago American Indian Center for eight years. Youth from the Native American community and artists of many ethnic backgrounds from around Chicago have always created and printed art in this workshop side by side.

This exhibit's theme is completed by prints from UM-CAC's website of art work from beyond Chicago submitted over the internet. ART-ACT, the "Anti-Racist T-shirt Art Contest Tour," invites graphic black & white entries from artists around the world with the same guidelines as artists in UM-CAC's "Screen Print Workshop for Artists."

Everyone is invited to help make this original Chicago art thrust work big with a very small contribution - your thoughts.

The public is urged to write their short comments regarding ART-ACT art on the forms provided at the exhibit or at www.art-teez.org . We will post your thoughts in the on-line exhibit. Visit Ennui and then go online to visit ART-ACT. Your comments are encouraged to be part of this interactive process. Act locally but send your ideas globally. Change the world with your pen. Act art in ART-ACT!

This project is supported by Chicago artists and small public donations.
