Artist's Statement
Everything Wants to Be Round Oil on canvas 1998: 11" x 14"
Black Elk, a Lakota medicine man, once said that, in nature,
"everything wants to be round". He was referring to the cycles of
life and of time. The generations to come must be present in our
accountability for our actions, for they will live with the
consequences of our actions. The generations that have passed must
be honored by our acceptance and understanding of the lessons they
have left with us.

In the lower right corner, the geometric blocks of color refer the
pixl and the virtual culture of digitized representations of nature.
We must reconcile new technology to the cycle of life.
