Artist's Statement
Sumacs&river@earth.sol Acrylic on canvas 1998: 18" x 18"
This was the first in the Earth.sol series. The flow of the
Mississsippi river and the flaming swords of sumac leaves were a
screen of the power and beauty in nature. Patterns of color and
intersecting fields of energy. Staccato notes of burgundy, bronze,
crimson and orange traced with green, while ribbons of manganese
blue, cerulean and violet undulate with timeless power in an
unchained melody.
