Artist's Bio
Dear Chris:

It is time to get the ball rolling. Some times one has to wait for moments of inspiration.

When I got out of work in 1992, I was looking for another job and something to do to keep my mind sharp.

I was sitting at home watching cable TV. I was having one of those moments of insomnia that we creative, crazy people have; when I switched to channel 42, and I saw your ad. I answered the ad -- and you know how the rest of the story ends [or begins].

I had been away from doing fine art for a number of years. I never really stopped drawing but, it was mostly stuff for my own enjoyment.

However, I had never tried to do my work on "Thin Canvas." I did not know anything about printing (screen or otherwise).

I am at heart a cartoonist, however, I do enjoy creating paintings. I work primarily in acrylics. I like them because they dry quickly, are permanent and they are washable too -- just like silk screened items. I also use permanent markers.

The Hatchling is the first piece I did for The Art of the T-shirt. It is my favorite because, it was an experiment that worked. It is a layered painting. If I had done it on a regular canvas I could not have done it any better.

I am also enclosing two works for the Anti Racist T-Shirt Contest too.

These works are the original hand painted color images that go along with the black and white silk screens.

Most of the works you will receive will be sent in the order that they were created. I will be sending you something that is brand new for the Antiracist event soon too.

Some times we artist become attached to our work. I feel like that the images I create are a part of my better self. I hope you and the others have as much fun viewing this pieces as I had making them.

Amie D.
