ABOUT THE ARTIST Sewasew Meaza
Sewasew Meaza came to Chicago from Ethiopia and has lived on Chicago's Northside for 15 years. Her ethnic heritage is Shoa. Amharic is the language spoken by most Ethiopians. She attended the Arts Institute of Chicago where among her other studies she found herself drawn to research her Ethiopian heritage. She is fascinated with the beauty of ancient scripts from 200 years before Christ.

She managed a screen printing business specializing in T-shirts and has shown in the "Art of the T-shirt" every year until she moved to Atlanta in 1998. It was her four color printer that she lent us for six years that we formed our Screen Print Workshop for Artists around. Thank you Sewasew for your heart. You are, in every sense, one of our founders.
