American Indian Iron Worker
by Jesse Nelson

American Indian Iron Worker by Jesse Nelson

"American Indian Iron Worker" by Jesse Nelson

Jesse Nelson is a member of the Odana Tribe (Northern Michigan). He was born and raised in Chicago. Although he is an "urban native", he is a member of AIM, an activist and an Iron Worker apprentice (skywalker - term applied to those who walk on steel beams high above the city while constructing skyscraping buildings). He wants to use his visual art to preserve and bring young native people to the knowledge of traditional ways so they will not lose their heritage.
