Grace Lai: is Chicago's famous on-site construction artist. She paints views of the city specializing in construction projects in pen & ink and watercolors. She began her career in her late fifties after her husband, an artist, died. While he was alive she worked closely with him. After his death she attended the same school he and her son attended, the American Academy of Art. She made history as the oldest student ever to graduate from there.

She began drawing a construction site near the school to fill up time before classes in the mornings. Construction and the men who worked these projects became her fascination. The men were supportive of her as an artist and enjoyed the work she did. This became her calling. She feels rewarded to highlight construction workers, who sometimes are under appreciated in society.

Her work hangs in offices high and low around Chicago and beyond. She is in her 70's. Today she fights debilitating auto injuries to draw and draw she still does. She has contributed to the "Art of the T-shirt" exhibits since 1991. Thank you Grace for the years you have supported the "Art of the T-shirt".
