See Clearly

Artist's Statement

"The Best Way To See Clearly? Teach Our Youth To Be Colorblind" This motto reflects on what I believe is the best way to thoroughly reduce racism from one generation to the next. Racism has and is still within our society, and certain unfortunate individuals deal with its effects on a daily basis the way most minorities in our country dealt with it years ago. The only thing that no one can deny is the fact that our society has evidently evolved to become more accepting and embracing of each other, and I believe the main factor that contributed to that cause is the teaching of equal values to our youth through school programs, diverse friendships, and most importantly, parental guidance. I am reflecting that through my illustration in the most simplistic fashion, and it's by the image of happy, diverse children being in one space not knowing the difference between black, white, tan, blue, yellow, etc.

In conclusion, the main message I'm trying to get across is by continuing to teach equality from our generation's youth to every generations on, the hope of no one having to deal with the burden of racism can become reality.
