The Water Fountain by Kevin Clapp

Artist's Statement
For this graphic, my intention was to point back to some issue of segregation and show how progress has been made toward obliterating racism in America.

I am foremost a cartoonist, having made cartoons since a very early age. Currently, my work can be found in the Kentucky Kernel, where I have been an editorial cartoonist for three years already, as well as an occasional illustrator for the paper. My cartoons are inked drawings I scan into the computer and use a variety of graphics programs to manipulate lines, colorize, and add any necessary design work to finish.

In addition, I am also an artist with work ranging from woodcut to plaster gauze casting. All the while, I maintain an inventive approach to my work and I always feature subject matter that I am concerned about, whether personally or as a social bystander. p My current project is called the "Ghast-Feechu" which is somewhat of an umbrella for basically anything I wish to discuss with artwork. This project is taking form as an illustrated novel in attempts to explain the world as we know it through a parallel society of creatures that eventually invent human beings.

I am a Bachelor of Fine Arts student at the University of Kentucky.
