Background Statement
To contribute to a small workers' newspaper which could not afford to have illustrations photo-engraved, Carlos for many years printed on a flatbed press for which he made linoblocks. That newpaper, The Industrial Worker, newsletter of the Industrial Workers of the World, originally published many of Carlos Cortez's works.
